Hiatus Update

Uh yeahhh LONG time no post, hahaha. My last entry was Feb 23 of this year. Today is June 22. >__< Sorry… My only excuse: Life…

So you probably guessed it by now but for those of you who haven’t been following me that closely, my jewelry-making hobby has been put on pause for the last 4 months. I’m just too busy (especially with school) to keep this up. My budget has also started becoming a problem… I think many of you understand that Swarovskis are not cheap… so yeah, the bottom line is, this hobby is too expensive and time-consuming for me to pursue right now. I know, I am crying inside as well. :(

Will I ever resume this hobby again? Maybe after I finish school… It’s definitely something I want to pursue. I had a great time while I was at it. Give it a year or so. :)

I didn’t have the time to blog about this before, but I did end up going to that bead expo in Costa Mesa, which was held next to the Orange County Fair. I had a fun time and so did Esha, who tagged along for the day.

This was way back in late February… around the time when I stopped blogging… so this image is kinda old. Well anyway, here’s what one of the booths inside the expo looked like. Lots of shiny shimmery stuff. We had a great time digging through the charms, going through the booths and keeping a lookout for Swarovskis and good bargains. I had so much fun I took SL with me the second time around, but I don’t think he enjoyed it as much as Esha… I saw more men visiting the expo than I had expected, but most of them wore the same expression as SL, poor bored souls who were mislead or guilt tripped into accompanying their sister/girlfriend/wife to this obviously feminine event.

These are the last things I made before I had to stop… I wanted to make more Nature Necklaces since that one was so popular. I also wanted to experiment more with the “pegasus” crystal and bring back heart crystals in more colors. But alas… you know how the story goes. :P

I made this bracelet for my beloved friend Stacey’s birthday in March. It’s the last jewelry I made as of yet. I think she liked it. On a side note, I think my nails look nice in this picture. They don’t look this perfect in real life. :P :P

Speaking of nails (here I go with my randomness since there isn’t any jewelry-related stuff left to blog about) I’ve been kind of obsessed with nail polish lately. No, not within the last 4 months, this is just recent. It’s nice to have a break from keeping my nails polish-free at hospitals.

This is the color that got me obsessed… a light purple-gray. Funny story about this. I thought I needed a new color for spring… I only own a few bottles of nail polish since I never cared too much for painting my nails. They are all pinks and neutrals with the exception of white and black. I hate the look of flashy, neon stuff… I might offend a lot of people when I say this, but I really do think it looks cheap and tacky… but I wanted a change from the neutrals… so I chose this one, Bite the Bullet from the Wet N Wild Megalast collection. Thought it was a great color for many reasons. A few days later my mom was sifting through a recent magazine and she spotted this exact nail polish in a section that promoted the new fashions for Spring 2010. Apparently this is the “in” color. It’s summer now, but this incident happened about a month ago. So, point of the story… +1 cool points for Jenny. 8)

^With and without flash.

My BlackBerry’s camera does a bad job at capturing the true color, which is really an in-between of the above two images. With flash, it is too lilac. Without, it looks mostly gray. I’m blogging about the details of this because this nail polish is FANTASTIC and I hardly ever take the time to write more than 2 sentences about something that doesn’t interest me. 4/5 on being true to color. 5/5 staying power (duh, it’s called “megalast”) this stuff has clung to my toenails for 2 weeks straight as pictured above without fading and only chipping a little on my big toe from when I stubbed it a couple of days ago - nothing a little touch up couldn’t fix. 4/5 for the scent… smells like most other unscented nail polish but doesn’t overwhelm. 5/5 for the price, $1.99 at the local WalMart. Pretty good for what you get. So, definitely try this out if you’re into good but cheap nail polish like me. :)

Would anyone be interested if I turn this into a beauty blog? HAHAHA! Just kidding.

So my dad’s old Honda Civic finally broke down last month. It’s so old that I can’t even recall what model it is, it’s probably the prototype. :/ Well this prompted my parents to hunt for a new car. I was certain they’d settle for another Toyota because of the recent markdowns. Or if a pig somehow mutated, sprouted wings and took off, go with my mom’s ballistic idea of getting a second CR-V although we ALREADY HAVE ONE. And one day they came home in a SHINY, SILVER (this one was a given, my parents have a thing for silver cars), BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW………………………………………………………………………………. Honda Civic. -___- The only excitement I got out of THAT was when my dad apparently lost his mind and decided I for some clearly unknown reason deserved to take the new car as my own. So of course I lost no time making plans to Hello Kitty-ize my new car.

Gift from mom… I guess you can call it a car-warming present… hahaha. She’s about as hooked as I am into turning the new car into a Hello Kitty museum on wheels. So this license plate, a HK 35th anniversary plushie that SL won from a machine in Little Tokyo, and a HK key cap are the first in a long line of HK auto accessories I am intending to decorate my car with. :D

Many thanks to my special friend who gave me this super cute key cap. :3 I love it! And contrary to what you thought when you saw the chain, it is actually pretty sturdy. But I’m still being extra careful not to tug on it… just in case!

And now I end this post with 2 places you MUST try if you love gelato and tea, like me.

GELATERIA FRIZZANTE
I had the chance to grab some gelato here with my friends Jessica and Diana a couple of weeks ago, after Jess’s graduation at UCSD. Both of their locations are in San Diego county, which sucks because it’s too far for me to drive just for gelato. I’ve only been here once but I’m definitely coming back when I visit downtown La Jolla again. Then maybe I’ll make a full review of the place after I try more flavors. But for now, just trust me, if you’re in the area you should give this place a try!

TENJU TEA HOUSE
Omg, my first visit to this place was a disaster. I won’t explain the details here because it would take too long so I’ll just say that it’s really embarrassing to not know how to tell a Chinese lady who is convinced that I’m Chinese and is trying to sell me some kind of spicy beef jerky she made me eat, speaking to me only in Chinese, that all I came inside the store for is to go to the other side of the room and order boba from the other salespeople. >_____< That’s the only problem I have with this place; Tenju shares the same hole in the wall with a Chinese gourmet food/snack shop named Champion or something like that. I dunno if this is just my problem, but I feel guilty ordering stuff from one shop and nothing from the other as the opposite store clerks just stare at me, willing me to change my mind and buy something from their store too on my way out, since Champion is closer to the only door in the room. If I had more money to spare, I’d probably give one of those interesting Chinese snacks a try. But if I ever get the cravings for a snack, it’s gotta be Tenju tea with boba. They have such a wide variety of great-tasting teas and I know this because I LOVE tea. I also love boba, and their boba is so much better than Lollicup or Guppy’s. It’s hard to describe so I can’t get into that. But if you’ve been to Lollicup and Guppy’s and you try Tenju boba you’ll know there’s a difference. Tenju’s prices are average for a cup of good tea. Add boba to anything for 50 cents more. THAT is a pretty good deal. I recommend their watermelon slush, peach green tea, and Monk’s tea. Can’t wait for my next visit to this tea heaven… there is always something new to try. n____n I have my eyes and taste buds set on the matcha green tea smoothie. YUM!!! Let me know if you ever want to grab some Tenju together, I have a stamp card I need to fill up! lol

Ok this post is getting too long now, so ‘til next time! Jewelry stuff will still need to be on hiatus, sorry! Hope you enjoyed reading my randomness and happy summer to all!

Jewelry Haul this Thursday

Hello <3

In the pic above I’m wearing Mini Moonlight Hearts earrings. n___n

Get your requests to me soon because I’m going to do a jewelry haul Thursday night! I’ll be doing this to save on shipping and handling and taxes which gets really costly in the long run from the place I get my materials from.

Also thinking of going to a popular bead expo nearby that one of my titas recommended to me. I’m actually kind of excited for it~ There’s one this weekend in Costa Mesa (I think) so I’ll probably go on Saturday. Wanna come with? :)

I’m working on putting together a website for JT Jewelry so it’ll be a lot easier for everyone to view my jewelries, see what’s for sale, stuff that’s discontinued, etc. In the long run I may also incorporate a “cart” and checkout system! Hahaha that will be interesting. :P

The sky over Fullerton yesterday was so gorgeous! It was such a beautiful day to be outside~ Don’t scold me for taking these pics while I was driving because I took them while the street light was red and I looked around to make sure I was safe… hahaha

Have you ever tried Cold Stone Creamery cupcakes? They are DELICIOUS definitely one of my favorite dessert treats! Tried my first one yesterday and fell in love! I got the new chocolate dipped strawberry flavor *left* and Esha got the Cake Batter Delux *right*. They’re both really tasty! Kinda pricey though. I think they were $2.79 each. But totally worth it… ahaha

So yesterday I hung out with one of my best friends, Esha. I love spending time with this lady. She’s one of the only people I know who can make me laugh so hard I get huccups. LOL! I had such a fun time catching up with her and learning about the things she’s up to these days, that I want to dedicate the next half of this post to her. :D

Esha started making her own clothes which I think is completely awesome! Even though she just started doing it recently she’s already very good and all of the clothing pieces she’s made so far just blew my mind when I saw them! Esha, I just want you to know that you have my full support and if you ever decide to do business I’ll help advertise you everywhere LOL!

I know you don’t mind me posting this ;) haha so here are examples of the shirts she makes. These are just *some* of the stuff she makes! She showed me a jacket that she’s working on and WOW I was completely amazed lol! Hopefully she’ll post a pic of it when she’s finished so I can show you guys.

She also makes little clay figurines, they’re adorable and so well-made! She makes all of them from scratch, it’s pretty cool! If you know me well you’ll know that my favorite Winnie the Pooh character is heffalump :D I think he’s so cute. So Esha made me a tiny clay heffalump, what a sweetie! I wish I had more pics of the other clay figures she made ‘cause they’re really REALLY good and super cute but sadly I don’t~ Esha is such a talented person, I’m very lucky and thankful that she’s a friend of mine. <3

Shooting Star Glass Earrings

Hello~

I’m in the middle of studying for OB quiz on Monday but thought I’d make a quick post, since I’ve been away from Tumblr for a while…

It’s been really busy on my end of things with the major studying (cramming) and other stuff I have to do. I haven’t had time to set up prices for my jewelries although I’ve been getting requests. >__< I hope to find a little more free time soon so that I can get things sorted out and make some of you girls a little happier~

Sooo this is my new work station LOL when I get sick of studying I just shut down my laptop, whip out my tool box, and make jewelries right on top of it. Not a very good idea because it’s a relatively small work space and the findings and things go sliding off in every direction. But my desk is so cluttered right now I’m embarrassed to show you guys the whole scene… lol

SHOOTING STAR GLASS EARRINGS

NOTE: I apologize for the bad pics, I didn’t have time to edit them >__<

Lately all I had time to make was a pair of earrings made with the *fake* Swarovski crystals I got in the mail a few days ago. They are actually made of glass but have the same AB backing as some of the Swarovskis. Although these are made of glass, they look VERY very similar to real Swarovski crystals! They are also cheaper so that’s an added plus. Don’t worry ladies, I promise to always tell you when I use glass or Swarovski when I give item descriptions so there will be no confusion. ;)

Actually the main reason why I went with glass this time is because I think the Swarovski nautical stars aren’t that great… I personally don’t like the pointed ends. :/

Whereas the glass crystals (I bought the pink ones - they came in pink or blue) are a lot cuter IMO. They’re so plump and cute~

I’m thinking of doing a big jewelry haul in the near future (to save some $ on S&H and taxes) so if you have any requests please let me know a.s.a.p. so I can order the materials I need. I will blog about this again before I actually do the haul so that any procrastinators can catch me in time. :P

Ok that’s it for now, well you probably won’t be seeing much of me on here for a while until I find some time again. But if you have any questions or requests feel free to strike up some conversation with me in person, I am happy to hear your thoughts!

Until next time~

Swarovski Earrings & Charm Necklace

Hi <3

Been a while since I blogged here. Last week I was cramming all the fun-time I could cram into one final week before school started. Although it doesn’t sound like it was relaxing, it was actually verrrrry relaxing and I had a great time. Yesterday was my first day back to school. Thankfully I had the whole last week to relax because I had to wake up at 5:30 AM and I didn’t come home until 9 PM! x____x

This spring semester is my 3rd-to-last semester until I graduate! Yay!! Only 2 more semesters to go. I can do this…!

For some reason the CSUF nursing dept decided to mash OB and peds together into one semester. I’m taking OB lecture and clinical the first 7 weeks of this semester then peds lecture and clinical the last 8 weeks. I also have to sit through a history class, finally the last of those darn GE’s that just get in the way. It felt so strange to sit in history last night and listen to the lecture… it’s all been nursing courses for me the last couple of semesters. History now seems so random lol. Thankfully my professors (so far) are interesting and know how to teach and joke so it somewhat makes up for the huge amount of reading I’ll have to do (for both nursing and darn history).

Anyways, to get away from school and studying for a little while, I work on jewelry. I was astonished at how much support I’ve been getting from people! So I just wanna say thank you for pushing me to continue this thing, it’s been kind of slow lately so thank you for encouraging me to keep coming up with new ideas!

I have a few new pieces that I want to share. It’s so fun making new stuff! :)

THE LOVEBIRD NECKLACE

I really love cute charms, like the bird charm that I used in this first piece. I want to start using them more in my jewelries since they work so well with the Swarovski crystals I always use. Here I used Crystal AB and Rose heart-shaped Swarovski crystal pendants, the same as those used in the Luv Luv Star necklace I sold a while back in my old blog. Price TBA.

MINI MOONLIGHT HEART EARRINGS

Earrings are so fun to make! I made this pair last Saturday to match the outfit I wore to the church GEM. I made them so randomly and kind of thoughtlessly that I didn’t think anyone would notice them, but they did! o__o This is actually 2nd pair. I gave the original pair away… but I know that person will really appreciate it! ;) I used mini Swarovski heart-shaped pendants and beads in Moonlight. They look pretty much clear in the pictures above, but they actually have a slight AB tint to them that be seen fairly well in natural light or sunlight. Price TBA.

SPRINGTIME EARRINGS

Winter should be coming to an end soon in California! At least I hope lol! There are many things in the spring that I’m looking forward to. :) It’s almost time to bring out my spring clothes. I was inspired when looking through trend magazines, they say the trend for spring 2010 will be a lot of denim stuff and earthy colors! So I was thinking what I could make to go with that info… and I came up with these Springtime earrings. Swarovski flower pendant in Peridot, starfish pendant in Aquamarine, faux pearl in Cream, and bead in Montana. The chains are heart-shaped links which add a cute and girly look! I love dangle earrings! Price TBA.

Some pics of me wearing the earrings. Sorry that most of my pics are so horribly small… if you would like to see the larger version of ANY of my pictures (believe me, they are are large, which is why I downsized them here) just let me know!

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the “light box” that SL and I made over winter break. It was one of the last things we did together before I went back to school. :3

I need to buy a study lamp(s) and some daylight bulbs to light it up for taking pictures at night time. For now I just prop up the box in front of natural light coming from the large window in my brother’s room (he has the best room in the house in terms of nice lighting) and take my pics there. But I am sure my pics will turn out a lot nicer when I get the study lamp!

More stuff to come~
